Christmas Joy Offering children’s art contest winners announced

A submission by Daniel Evans, first place winner of Christmas Joy Offering Children’s Art Contest for the 11 to 14-year-old group. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The winners of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Christmas Joy Offering Children’s Art Contest have been selected. The contest, in which children up to age 14 were invited to submit art representing their own visions of the Christmas story, attracted more than 250 submissions from scores of churches across the country. In the 2- to 6-year-old group, the winners are: First place — Audrey Farrell, 6, of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas Second place — Jaedyn Lehman, 6, of Pendleton (Oregon) First Presbyterian Church

New IRS auto use rates

Based on the following, the mileage reimbursement for the Presbytery of Eastern Oregon for 2010 will be $0.25 per mile for one person in a car and $0.29 for two or more.

Beginning on Jan. 1, 2010, the standard IRS mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be:

• 50 cents per mile for business miles driven
• 16.5 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes
• 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations

The new rates for business, medical and moving purposes are slightly lower than last year’s. The mileage rates for 2010 reflect generally lower transportation costs compared to a year ago.
